Welcome to BeespokeVintage Patterns! Below are answers to my most commonly asked questions about my vintage sewing patterns, downloads, and ordering process. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to contact me!
🧵 About the Patterns
What Makes BeespokeVintage Patterns Different?
Every BeespokeVintage Pattern is backed by 25 years of history, expertise, and dedication to preserving and sharing vintage fashion. The patterns are restored, formatted, and refined to ensure historical accuracy while making them easy to use for modern sewists.
As a passionate vintage sewing enthusiast, I’m not just selling patterns—I’m here to help you bring your sewing dreams to life. Whether you’re recreating a 1930s day dress or crafting a historically accurate ensemble, I’ll be here to support you every step of the way.
(Note: A few patterns are still in hand-traced or scanned format to make them immediately available to special-order customers before being fully restored. If a pattern is in this format, it will be clearly noted in the product listing.)
Are these patterns authentic vintage designs?
Yes! All of my patterns are based on original vintage sewing patterns from the 1860s through the 1960s. I take great care in digitally restoring and preserving these rare designs while ensuring they remain faithful to their historical origins.
Are your patterns exact replicas of the originals?
In most cases, yes. However, because vintage patterns were often printed without seam allowances, missing markings, or incomplete instructions, I enhance readability and usability where needed. If adjustments have been made, they are noted in the product description.

How do I purchase a pattern?

What format are your patterns in?
I offer patterns in two formats:
- PDF Digital Downloads – Instantly download and print at home or at a copy shop. Each listing includes details on page sizes and printing options.
- Printed Paper Patterns – Select patterns are available in pre-printed format, professionally printed and shipped to you. Look for the "Printed Pattern Available" label in the product listing.
How do I print my digital pattern?
If you choose a PDF digital download, you have two options for printing:
- Print at Home – Use a standard 8.5" x 11" (US Letter) or A4 printer, then tape the pages together following the provided assembly guide.
- Copy Shop Printing – Select the A0 or Copy Shop (large-format) version (if available) to print as a single sheet at a professional printer.
I provide detailed printing instructions with every download.
Will I receive a physical pattern?
- If you purchase a printed pattern, it will be professionally printed and shipped to you.
- If you purchase a digital pattern, you will receive a PDF file only, which you can print at home or at a copy shop.
If you have questions about which format is right for you, feel free to contact me before purchasing! 😊
📐 Pattern Sizing & Adjustments
Are vintage pattern sizes the same as modern sizes?
No, vintage sizing is very different from modern sizing. I highly recommend checking the bust, waist, and hip measurements provided in each product listing rather than relying on the listed "size."
How can I resize a vintage pattern to fit me?
Resizing a vintage pattern is possible using grading techniques or simple pattern adjustments. I’ll be sharing tutorials on resizing vintage patterns in my blog soon! Stay tuned.
Do your patterns include seam allowances?
Some vintage patterns were originally printed without seam allowances. If a pattern does not include seam allowances, it will be clearly noted in the description, and I will provide guidance on adding them.
🔄 Returns & Support
Do you offer refunds on digital patterns?
Due to the instant nature of digital downloads, all pattern sales are final and non-refundable. If you have trouble accessing your files or believe there is an error in your pattern, please contact me and I’ll be happy to assist you.
I lost my download link! Can I get another one?
Absolutely! If you’ve lost access to your pattern, simply email me with your order details, and I’ll resend your download link.
👗 Sewing & Pattern Use
Can I sell clothing made from your patterns?
Yes! You are welcome to use my patterns to create and sell finished garments. However, my patterns are for personal and small business use only—they may not be redistributed, resold, or shared in digital or physical format.
Do your patterns include sewing instructions?
Most of my patterns include original vintage instructions, though some early historical patterns may have minimal or no instructions (as was common for the time). If additional guidance is needed, please reach out to me and I'm happy to help.
In the future, I will be providing historical sewing tips and resources on my blog!
