IMPORTANT NOTE

The original source materials for these early patterns contain much less instruction than modern patterns from the 1920s and 1930s.

Patterns and fashion journals from the late 19th century assumed that the home seamstress had ample sewing knowledge, and thus included minimal guidance. This means patterns may not include facings, linings, or trim instructions, and these elements are often entirely omitted.

Please keep in mind:

  • These patterns run small compared to modern sizes.

  • They were designed with the assumption that corsets and structured undergarments would be worn.

  • Armholes in particular are smaller than those on contemporary garments.

  • It is highly recommended to make a mock-up (toile) in muslin or scrap fabric to adjust the fit before using your final fashion fabric.

These patterns are reproduced exactly as the originals, with no alterations, in order to maintain historical authenticity.

Prior sewing experience and familiarity with vintage patterns are strongly recommended.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND

This is an exact copy of the original vintage pattern and may include any original formatting quirks, errors, or miscalculations.

While I have personally made up some of these patterns, I have not tested them all and cannot guarantee their perfect accuracy or fit.

Just like any garment construction, it’s best to make a fitting mock-up before cutting into your final fabric.
