IMPORTANT NOTE

Patterns from the late 1800s and early 1900s were published with the assumption that the home seamstress possessed a high level of sewing knowledge. As a result, instructions for facings, linings, and trims may be:

  • Very limited

  • Vague

  • Or completely omitted

Please also note:

  • These vintage patterns run significantly smaller than modern patterns.

  • They were drafted for wear over corsets and period undergarments.

  • Armholes (armscyes) in particular are often much tighter than those in modern garments.

It is highly recommended that you make a fitting mock-up (toile) out of muslin or waste fabric before cutting your final fashion fabric. Adjust the pattern to your body based on this test version.

These patterns are reproduced directly from the original source material with no modern alterations, in order to preserve their historical authenticity.

🧵 Prior sewing experience and comfort with vintage patterns is strongly recommended.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND

This is an exact copy of the original vintage pattern and may retain any formatting errors or inaccuracies found in the original.

While I have personally made up some of these patterns, I have not tested them all, and cannot guarantee perfect accuracy or fit. As always, a mock-up in test fabric is the best way to ensure success before working with your final materials.
