This 1927 replicated sewing pattern features a hat in two different styles for a formal or informal look. The black hat is more casual, with a narrow brim that is turned up at back, and a softer less fitted crown. The beige hat is more tailored - the crown being made of several sections, with a decorative band replacing the brim. It is sized to fit a 22-1/2 inch head. See below for customer comments regarding this pattern: "I decided to make another hat from this same pattern again, and I noticed a curious thing... When sewing the side crown to the top, I had all this extra fabric on the top...I guess before I just chalked it up to bias stretch and eased the extra fabric in...but last night I was sewing with non-stretchy fabric, and still ran into the same problem, so I measured the length of the side crown, within the seam allowances, and it came to 21.75". I measured the circumference of the top at the seam allowance, and got 23". Which surely explained my problem! So I cut a new side crown and brim and added in the extra 1.25". Just thought I would drop a note, I really do like the pattern; thank you for providing it" This McCall pattern was originally created by Dec. 30, 1929 and has been re-digitized into it's current format.
