This replicated pattern is sized to fit a 36 inch bust / 39 inch hip. This (late 1929/early 1930) frock has shaping pleats at the shoulders, with close fitting long sleeves, or optional sleeveless version. The front is detailed with a short peplum, to which a softly shirred front panel is attached. The skirt is slightly full at center back, and fits closely at the hip. A bow at the shoulder for trim, completes the look. It's so beautiful and complex, and really not that hard to construct. The end result will not quite be like the picture because the tie around the hips looks sewn to the garment in the illustration and in reality it is tied, so obviously the smoothness will be lacking a bit. You can use a thicker/stiffer fabric to give this a more office-like feel. I do suggest however to attach the peplum to the bodice first, then to the skirt, or if you are feeling really clever, make the skirt separate from the bodice/peplum, this will alleviate some of the bulk that bothered me about this garment. If you are brave you can easily remove and add the sleeves to alternate summer and winter looks. The shoulder pleats are a precious detail not to be missed. Love this garment!" This is an exact copy of the original vintage pattern and as such may retain any original errors or miscalculations in formatting native to the original pattern.  While I have made up some of these patterns, I have not tested them all out and cannot attest to their accuracy or perfect fit.  As with all garment construction, it is best to make a mock-up for fitting in test fabric prior to cutting and constructing with your final fashion fabric.
