This 1938 reproduction sewing pattern features a Misses' and women's dress, utterly feminine and lovely, this dress has the soft gathered bodice and snug waist yoke that is so good for the figure. The neckline is a low V; skirt is slightly flared. Style 1 has buttons and a sash trimming the yoke, long sleeves. Style 2 has short sleeves and is shown with an optional belt. See below for a review of this pattern: "The sleeves on this frock were a dream to put in. I loved the darts in the sleeve head. All the points lined up and the instructions were very clear. Altogether a fun and remarkably easy pattern. I had a moment of panic doing the collar, but it's a very clever way to do a self facing. I didn't understand the little rabbit ear that formed the collar back because I had never encountered anything like it before. Once I joined the shoulder seams it was easy." Pattern shipped out so fast! The paper for the pattern is perfect--I've ordered from other reproduction pattern companies that use a heavier paper. I'm a pattern tracer, but I definitely prefer to avoid it when I can. VPLL uses a paper that can be pinned like tissue but is more substantial. The pattern itself is wonderful. Not too many pieces and construction itself is fast, though there are a few details that benefit from making a muslin for practice and fit. Don't skip the muslin! I reached out to Deirdre regarding the fit issue I was having, and she was so helpful and encouraging! I could write paragraphs on how pleased I am--unfortunately there's a character limit! I HIGHLY recommend ordering from Deirdre and VPLL!! I will be coming here in the future for all my reproduction pattern needs! Likely very soon :)
