Recommended fabrics include: Velvet, Velveteen, Percale, Cotton Satin, Silk or Rayon Taffeta, Silk Organza. Use Taffeta and Velveteen for petals and leaves, and Taffeta or Chintz for bud and flower backs. Optional items may include: Fabric Stiffener, Florists or Millinery Wire, Embroidery Floss, Watercolor paints for tinting fabric. There are also recipes for homemade stiffener, however, the ingredients easily accessible in 1950, may not be as easy to locate in today's market.
